StyleMyCrown AI Platform
We are the leading and foundational AI preservation platform. StyleMyCrown AI is built so your hairstyle can change while you do not: your face, your skin tone and your texture stay yours.
Our technology is the reason a try-on on StyleMyCrown looks like you in a new style, and not like someone else.
The problem
Image models learn from internet-scale pictures, and those pictures under-represent Black hairstyles and darker skin. In running a live try-on, we documented how that shows up.
Instead of editing you, the model hands back something close to the reference photo, with someone else’s face.
Your own photo comes back as the “result”, with the style never applied.
The model replaces the person, often with a lighter-skinned face, because its training taught it who “usually” wears that style.
Your face is safe, but big, voluminous styles come back timid and unfinished.
Backlit or low-contrast photos of darker skin, an everyday outdoor shot, are where generic tools lose track of the face.
What makes us different
We did not fix this with better prompts. We fixed it with better architecture, built around four principles.
Asking a model nicely to keep your face is not enough. Our pipeline is built so that preserving you is a property of how it works, and does not depend on the model behaving.
Every result passes through independent safeguards before it reaches you, and one signal alone is never allowed to clear or condemn it.
Delivering the wrong face is worse than delivering nothing. When we cannot keep you recognizable, we say so, and you keep your credit.
Each safeguard traces back to a real failure we saw in production. We measure continuously, so the system stays correct as models change.
Box braids, cornrows, locs and bantu knots are not edge cases for us. They are the reason the platform exists, and the styles it is built and checked around.
How our safeguards work stays with us. What we share is what we have learned, so the whole field can do better for Black hair.
Honest about the limits
Difficult photos, such as strong backlight or very low contrast, are harder for any system, and we keep working on them. When we refuse a result to protect your identity, that falls more often on the users models serve least, so we track how often it happens by skin tone and work to bring it down, not just to refuse safely.
Some styles that must change the hairline itself, such as lace-front wigs, need different handling from other styles.
